Hun Sen blames Lon Nol reactionary for cause of Cambodia destruction
Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen on 27 May blamed Lon Nol-led republican, who led 1970 military coup to toppled then-Prince Norodom Sihanouk, for a cause of Cambodia destruction and blame should not be put on Pol Pot-led genocidal regime solely.
Chhoeung Ek killing fields’ new museum built
A new luxurious museum was already built together with a nice garden in the campus of Chhoeung Ek ‘killing fields’ south-west of victims’ stupa, killed under Khmer Rouge’s Democratic Kampuchea, DK.
A Phnom Penh City Hall official outlined that the museum was built by a private company, J.R.C, under the authority of the Royal Government of Cambodia to do investment at the genocidal center to preserve the site more environmentally and beautifully for national and international visitors.
Expert witness talks of Khmer Rouge-VN armed conflicts
Nayan Chanda, correspondent for The Hong Kong-based Far Eastern Economic Review during the Vietnam War before and after Khmer Rouge regime, appeared before war crimes court to become an expert witness in the case of Kaing Guek Eav alias Duch.
Nayan Chanda is a second expert witness after Khmer Rouge scholar Craig Etcheson to testify before court in the fact of policy implementation of Communist Party of Kampuchea at S-21 torture center and armed conflicts in the Khmer Rouge regime.
Gov’t, ambassadors discuss effective ordinary mechanism creation for K Rouge tribunal
The government of Cambodia discussed with ambassadors of other countries and European, Union, the donors to the Khmer Rouge tribunal, to form effectiveness of an ordinary mechanism for servicing administration office to prevent would-be seen inactive actions or allegations of corruption within the tribunal from arising.
Armed conflict with VN troops caused K Rouge fall
Khmer Rouge expert Craig Etcheson told Cambodia’s war crimes court on 21 May about Vietnamese troop-Khmer Rouge troop armed conflicts before earlier 1979 fall of Khmer Rouge. But no detailed information is raised in the hearing.
Answering a co-deputy prosecutor’s questions, Craig Etcheson referred to two documents, the instructions of the standing committee of Communist Party of Kampuchea, CPK, (Khmer Rouge leadership). Gov’t awaits UN to resume talk on tribunal’s anti-irregularity mechanism
The government of Cambodia is still open to await talk with the UN on legal usage technique, anti-irregularity mechanism, or anti-corruption mechanism within the Khmer Rouge tribunal, according to Phay Siphan, spokesman for the Council of Ministers.
