Complaint against Marcel Lemonde Increases

Khieu Samphan’s co-defence lawyer Sar Sovann has already made decision to file a complaint to remove Marcel Lemonde’s position as international co-investigating judge at the Khmer Rouge tribunal.

He sued the co-investigating judge for not respecting professional code. ”Marcel Lemonde has no rights to instruct investigating official to find only inculpatory evidence,” he said. “His task is to find both inculpatory and exculpatory evidence.”

Genocidal Crime Center Built to Commemorate the Dead in Pol Pot Regime

A Kampong Thom’s genocidal crime center in Democratic Kampuchea (DK) was built to store ashes of over 1,000 victims killed under Pol Pot-led genocidal regime.

The center construction is to symbolize Khmer Rouge victims’ pains and to commemorate and dedicate to the dead during the regime.

Tribunal to Close Case 002 Complaints in Mid-November

Cambodia’s UN-backed war crimes court announced to close complaints filed by civil parties in case 002 in mid-November 2009.

The judicial investigation in case 002 will conclude at the end of 2009. Any person who wishes to become a civil party in case 002 should submit to the victims unit their civil party application as soon as possible, preferably before mid November 2009.

Case 002 currently relates to charges against Nuon Chea, Ieng Sary, Ieng Thirith and Khieu Samphan.
